PDFJourney is a finetuned version of GPT4 trained to generate useful PDF documents from text descriptions. It has a diverse set of capabilities, including creating logically consistent legal documents, making unique financial statements and invoices.
Hey hunters! 👋
I'm beyond excited to announce the launch of PDFJourney!
What is PDFJourney?
PDFJourney does one thing and one thing only. Create beautiful PDFs, fast.
Why PDFJourney?
As a freelancer I found that existing invoicing software does not have the customization in the final invoices that I wanted. So, a couple of month ago I started working on a very simple software that only focuses on generating PDFs based on a text prompt, sort of like midjourney but for PDFs (hence the name).
PDFJourney is not only for invoices though, you can create any contract, agreement or document you want!
What can PDFJourney do for you?
Here are some of the awesome features
ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ♡ -- Create a PDF from a midjourney style text description
🎨 -- Use the text editor to edit and fine tune the PDF, give it your own branding
🤖 -- An easy to use API endpoint to integrate into your already existing document workflow
With PDFJourney PDFs are as simple to create as any text file!
If there are any question I’ll be in the comments section below 👇
P.S this app will be free for the foreseeable future (or at least until it becomes prohibitively expensive to run). There are paid tiers in the app already but they don't provide users with any premium features (consider them as donation buttons).
Hi Filip,
How does PDFJourney ensure the accuracy and formatting of legal documents?
Are there templates available for different types of documents, or is it all generated from scratch?
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin very good question.
In legal tech it's very important to avoid hallucinations so as to avoid potential legal issues. With PDFJourney the user is responsible for all of the content in the the document while PDFJourney simply handles the styling and formatting. Think of it like a more user friendly version of LaTeX.
So for example if you want to generate a Power of attorney document you will have to provide all of the text data and PDFJourney will generate a potential document from your prompt.
In summary the accuracy of the document is up to you but the formatting will be handled by PDFJourney, you can regenerate the document as many times as you want to get a formatting that your happy with.
Congratulations on the launch! I love that it has an automation API and allows generating lots of PDFs automatically. Have you encountered any technical challenges while working on it?
@semanser thank you so much!
Initially I wanted to use a serverless architecture on the backend however after spending about 1 week on it I realized that my PDF conversion pipeline would not support it. This is because part of the pipeline relies on a headless chrome browser which is not supported by AWS Lambda functions. I opted to use the classic EC2 instance and set up an old fashioned web server. This has the disadvantage that it will not scale horizontally well, however I will not have to worry about crazy cloud costs because of DDoS attacks or other spikes in traffic.
Another technical issue which still persists is that the generation process takes far to long. I have ideas to fix it though and they should be gone by eom.
