Hi, I am the developer of Pastec. It is an open source index and search engine for image recognition. It can recognize flat objects such as covers, packaged goods or artworks. Pastec can be, for example, used to recognize DVD, CD or book covers in a mobile app or detect near duplicate images in a large database.
Pastec do not store the pixels of the images in its database but it stores the features of each image thanks to the technique of the visual words. This allows the quick matching of the request images during search.
