Neurture is a habit and behavioral change app for people that have tried everything. Neurture's AI chat routes users to research-based resources (meditations, journal prompts, affirmations) and helps users develop and maintain their own plan for change.
I'm excited and proud to be launching Neurture today! ❤️💪
Since I was just a little kid, I've struggled with how (much) I use technology, from video games to social media and beyond. At times I've found huuuge pleasure in these things but I've also been left feeling isolated or guilty. Often both of these things are true. At first it seemed like the best approach was just to try harder 😬
After working for a mental health unicorn for two years (and lots of research, therapy, podcasts, etc. etc) I found that there are great, research-based digital mental health resources...that focus on stress and anxiety. But for those seeking to change unwanted or addictive behaviors, there is a gap.
Neurture helps users address unwanted or addictive behaviors using research-based methods (ACT, CBT, mindfulness, etc). It meets users where they are, helping them focus on behaviors that matter to them, whether its excessive social media use, procrastination, vaping or smoking, alcohol consumption, pornography viewing, negative self-talk, or anything else. Neurture provides trusted resources and helps you get out of your head and develop a personalized, compassionate plan for change.
A few Neurture features
✅ My Map feature which allows you to develop a plan for change
✅ Meditations based on research
✅ Glossary of terms to learn trusted methods for change
✅ AI chat to get out of your head and help you iterate on your plans
✅ Journaling (including handwriting recognition)
✅ Affirmations UI to help change unhelpful thoughts
You'll Love Neurture If You...
• Just want to cut back on any behavior (snacking, social media, video gaming, etc)
• Feel like you're addicted to something (alcohol, vaping, smoking, etc)
• Feel like therapy might be "overkill" or isn't necessary
• Feel therapy is not accessible (price, timing, intimidation, etc)
• Want additional support in between therapy sessions
Since day 1 I've been working with a few different clinical psychologists so nearly every word in the app has been reviewed by multiple licensed clinicians.
Neurture is free to try!

@chrisliam Thank you! There are a couple really important features that are key.
Perhaps first is My Map, which acts almost as therapy notes for yourself or a running document. It is a place to note your goals, motivations, challenges (e.g. triggers), prevention plan, and bounce back plan (I had a lot of back and forth with my main clinical researcher about each of these questions). Once you've noted down some baseline things here, it'll be helpful moving forward and engaging in conversations with the assistant.
The assistant uses techniques from proven approaches like acceptance and commitment therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy. This allows you to do things like challenge unhelpful thoughts, acknowledge certain facts, and just the unhelpful thinking cycles we sometimes engage in.
Then lastly, it includes a library of meditations that are really helpful for practicing mindfulness meditation. Each of these meditations is backed by research regarding behavioral change. In general, to get the most out of meditation, practicing it 4-5 times a week for about 10 minutes will get you a lot of bang for your buck.
I'd love to hear any feedback you have!
@chrisliam@bradydowling Incorporating the professionals is truly a booster for the credibility of this app. Have you considered adding the names of the professionals on the landing page ?
@chrisliam@aris_nakos ya great feedback! This is something I'm in the process of doing but haven't gotten it over the goal line yet. Should be there in the near future, indeed that will give it much more credibility. I'm actually planning on embedding that in the app as well so users can gain trust right as they're using it.
@aris_nakos@bradydowling You'll definitely reach the goal line! just keep on it and be dedicated as your are even when there are times we lose hope. Just be motivated and keep working hard.
@bradydowling Great idea for the app, I will play around with it! I really want to start implementing pause breaks inside my work day, maybe Neurture will be able to help!
@mohamedghaith Absolutely! Use the assistant and My Map to help you come up with a plan and then be able to follow through on it, should be really helpful.
