Hey @cpuricelli, congratulations on the app release :)
I try out about 5-7 of these apps a week (there's a lot of them out there). My current mainstays are Feedly + Flipboard + Nuzzel.
Am curious, how do you guys differentiate from the current stock? What problem did you have that wasn't being met?
@abhic While Feedly, Flipboard and Nuzzel have different approaches; they all only show you content provided by the fixed amount of sources you selected (Rss feeds for Feedly; Rss, Facebook, Twitter on Flipboard; and Twitter feeds on Nuzzel). MyNews.is is built around categories, so you don't need to know the sources and you can discover new ones while using the app. Also the top stream is not only limited to the categories that you selected but you might also discover there interesting articles from correlated categories, that our algorithm thinks could be interesting for you.
So overall on other apps you get what you already know that you want to read, on MyNews.is you could also discover new stuff to read.
@cpuricelli You are right about Feedly/Nuzzel.
But Flipboard doesn't work like that. This is a really deep product with an insane content portfolio. IMHO twitter/fb is is like 1-2% of their content repo.
@abhic yes Flipboard has a lot of content, and if you use their search you can find it, and they have human curation with the magazines the user creates. But you usually get only what you follow or search for. They recently bought Zite that was doing something very similar to MyNews.is; so it will be interesting to see how they will integrate it. Personally I like Flipboard for the design, but found the personalisation engine not so good.
