After 2 months of work, I'm super excited to finally launch Locus — Smart CTRL + F 😃 The idea of a CTRL + F that understood natural language came when I had just finished reading a long research article for my cloud computing class at Penn. I needed to refer back to the section that was talking about the difference between two types of load balancers, and regular CTRL + F wasn’t doing the trick. It came up with too many search results, and manually going through each one seemed like a waste of time. I wished I could just directly ask CTRL + F, “What is the difference between an Application load balancer and Netwok load balancer?”. I looked to see if something like this already existed but to my surprise, nothing that worked well was available. So I built my own. Meet Locus. 👇 Features: • Quickly find information you need from webpages using natural language. • Make searches that aren't possible with regular CTRL + F. • Immediately understands your search and immediately finds the relevant section. • Refer back to sections in long papers, documents, and articles by using natural language instead of having to remember exact keywords. Locus works on most static webpages that contain text, including news articles, online textbooks and blog posts. PDF & video support is coming soon. Makes it fun to do research and AI queries while reading PDFs and browsing websites. Easily my favorite app, possibly of all time. You can use Locus as you browse web pages and PDFs, including for querying multiple web pages and/or PDFs simultaneously. Common AI actions include Summary, Quiz, Brainstorm, Diff, Map, and Timeline. Or use your own queries to search documents and get answers.
