@baul Hey Paul, dehumidifiers use compressors to cool the air and condense the water vapor. Kara Pure doesn’t use compressors but something called a desiccant which is a naturally occurring element that can pull water out of the air like a magnet! It’s actually very cool to see. Our desiccant technology uses heat to extract the captured water from the desiccant and this heat also kill airborne viruses and bacteria, leaving the air in your home cleaner. Lastly, we we add rare and unique minerals that are comparable to the top mineral and alkaline bottled water brands in the market at a fraction of the price!

@baul @cody_soodeen you did not invent dessicant dehumidifiers either, so I'm leaning towards paul's opinion. Sure, you add minerals, but how is this better than a water purifier plugged into a tap water source? I guess your system has the advantage of being mobile, but the energy consumption is high which albeit your design tries to portray your product as futuristic, really makes your product ecologically pretty terrible. It's far cheaper money wise and energy wise to of course get tap water, but even do desalination. It only makes sense IMO to use dehumidifiers if you actually need the humidity out to prevent mold growth, not to drink... Is there a bigger vision that I'm missing here? I'm open minded and want to believe that you see something I don't.

@baul @cody_soodeen i think the main critique here is the thermodynamics behind this idea. At 100% humidity and 100% efficiency @ room temp you can get 1kg of water from 50kL of air. Thats a massive amount of air at a non-household humidity level. The second critique is that the air in a room is not steady state, a person running their AC will reduce humidity indoors and this machine will extract other latent humidity. Once at 25% the machine enters standby, but considering this operation of water to air is temperature dependent someone would have to be more uncomfortable then they would like to be in their home to allow this machine to operate with any appreciable amount of efficiency. Personally, i hope you and your team take your now $0.3M and use it to make this machine work and deliver something amazing, but this does beg the question as to how you all were going to accomplish this design + commercial manufacturing effort for only $10k? That is what the goal was originally at, so was that for just the start of the fundraiser?

Congrats on the launch! Wow!Does it work in places with a very dry air and low humidity? Do you have any tests for that?

@bogomep Thank you. Our ideal working environment to produce 2.5 gallons (~10 litres) daily is 60-80%. Anything less than that is fine too, we tested it with even 25%-30% humidity, it just makes less than 10L waters daily.

@cody_soodeen What about regions near to a desert or in a desert? Do you have a research on that? This could help a lot!

Kara Pure

Maker
Hey Hunters, Cody here, creator of Kara Pure. I'm excited to introduce our product to you all. Growing up we had bacteria in our well. We discovered it after drinking it for ten years. The water had an excessive level of it. It caused serious health problems for my family. I realized that we are probably not the only ones affected by this. The idea for Kara Pure came to me after watching a video about the fog beetle that can create water on its shell and drink it from its back. I was 19 at the time and was in college. My initial reaction was WOW - this could have so many practical applications for local drinking water. So, I wrote a research paper on the shell of that beetle. And that’s what came to be Kara Pure today. We (my team and I) worked really hard to make that idea a reality. What is Kara Pure? Kara Pure is a water dispenser that can make up to 10 liters (that’s 2.5 gallons) of drinking water straight from the air. It’s unrelated to any groundwater or any infrastructure. You just plug it in and it starts making 9.2+ pH level alkaline water from the air. It takes the humidity from the air by pulling it in with the fan. It captures it on a volcanic type of a rock. Once it’s captured we have to extract it with heat. This is how we kill viruses and bacteria in the water and it also kills viruses and bacteria in the air. Then it gets stored in the tank and we run it through the mineralization process. And this is where we add alkalinity and rare minerals that we have in the water. Once it’s done with the process, it’s ready for drinking. We’ve also added UV-C purification inside the tank, so the water is fresh and doesn’t have that stale taste. So hope you like it. I’m happy to answer any questions and gather suggestions.
