As soon as we saw that audio models were taking off and ChatGPT came out, we decided that making a tool to transcribe audios in WhatsApp was going to be fun to try. Over the last 18 months we developed a Chrome Extension and a bot that transcribes and summarizes audios with a fast and easy UI, keeping in mind all the privacy measures that this process involves. We keep adding improvements and features as our over 10K daily users give us feedback, we find many professionals and businesses email us as soon as something doesn't work for them for any reason. We built our own custom models and backend services to make this product profitable, and now we're focusing on scaling and distributing it.

Kaption is my first B2C real world product. I'm so proud to say I'm addicted to my own product

Looking forward to trying it and recommending it to Whatsapp power users. BTW, I couldn't easily find the pricing (and the FAQ only has one Q). Not enough startups are upfront about their pricing, and that's frustrating. Funny story about voice messages. In the mid-1990s, voicemail was a very important communication tool in the U.S. When I'd go to India to teach classes, talk tech, etc, I'd ask why VM wasn't being used there at all. They'd tell me they use "missed call" tech (knowing who to call back from the call logs, no need to listen to VM (smart, efficient and no cost). So instead of teaching folks there about VM, I brought back their tech here and encouraged folks to try it. But VM really lasted a lot longer here than I thought it would. Somehow, with the advent of WA, many Indians have fallen in love with voice messaging and it's pretty irritating. Sure, it's easier for the sender, but all the hard work has to be done by the recipient, and that's an unfair burden to put on them.

@sree Sree, we have an unlimited free trial, where we allow users to freely use the product and learn about it with increasing usage restrictions over time. This is dynamic in order to mantain a budget in resources, but it's very reasonable. For 1.99 and 4.99, we have BASIC and PRO plans that have automatic language detection and automatic transcriptions which save a lot of time. WhatsApp Business accounts only support PRO for now, this is because we noticed a statistically significant increase in usage and much higher SLA needs. We're also experimenting with new annual pricing and other variables in the extension, so we don't put it on the website to avoid confusing users. Anyways, we will improve our communication on this based on your feedback!
