@ozguozdn@anupya I think it also makes a big difference if there is a link to dictionary site like https://jisho.org/ so it is easy quickly check the exact word usage and examples. Thank you @anupya for creating this great app.

I am currently learning Japanese and wanted an extension like this. So why not make it myself, right?

Hi Anupya! Good job, definitely. I’m a Japanese learner myself and got interested on your product.
Would you mind to tell more about the words source and how do you randomize them?
From my experience only reading random new words every day/time you don’t actually learn that word for a long-term. So, it would be awesome if you could add some strategy of spaced learning, where the same word comes several times to the learner in different intervals, offering the learning some sort of test to check the knowledge.
@rogeriotaques Hey there! I initially tried to find an API of sorts that would give me random common English/Japanese words but unfortunately I had no luck. So I just picked up 1800+ common words, put them in an array and randomly sent one to Jisho API with every new tab. Then the hiragana I get from that API is converted to all other writings with wanakana.js.
Unfortunately, I am not convinced yet to implement a strategy of spaced learning. This is a very casual way to learn Japanese and I'm not sure I want to integrate a whole learning curriculum in a new tab page. However, if you have examples of this being done and being successful, please do share it with me. Thank you for taking the time to write a comment here!
@anupya thanks for making time to reply.
I know how you feel about spaced learning, basically, I felt the same myself before trying it. Among all the methods I've tried to learn Japanese online, spaced learning was one which worked better.
https://www.producthunt.com/post... does it very well.
