I've been testing Humanize for the past couple months, and it's a simple and easy way to remember what the good things in your life. For 21 days, once a day you'll get a prompt to respond (by email, text, or web) with one thing that you are grateful for. At the end you'll be reminded of what you were grateful for and it will help you acknowledge the people that had an impact on your life. It's part of my daily practice to be more mindful of my life and remind myself of the positives in my life.
I built humanize as a simple tool grounded in the idea that resilience is a skill set that can be learned and that it’s within our control to help ourselves… by being more present and adjusting the lens through which we view everyday ups and downs. Ya know the saying: “nothing is either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.” The brain is a hugely powerful and trainable muscle that largely dictates how we experience life, yet we aren’t taught how to “exercise” it.
The first tool is what you see on the site now. A simple text/email based prompt to write down something you are grateful for. Research shows you can train yourself to frame things in positive terms and reflecting on what you are appreciative for, over time, rewires your wire to focus on the positive. And in doing so, it grounds you in the present – vs stressing about the past or being anxious about the future.
Over time, we plan to build out the tool kit by offering a variety of ways to build resilience and mindfulness.
I’d love to know if you had thoughts or comments. ...
In the meantime, here’s a blog post [1 min read] I just published on the challenge of being present…https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/y...
