Go to hru.chat → It can be easy to miss that someone close to you needs a helping hand, a hug or a chat. HRU gives you a simple and private space to check in with the people you care about so you can always know how each other are feeling.
Hey! 👋 I'm Graham and I'm a product designer at Facebook who writes some code on the side. I made HRU as a way to check in with my family and friends in this difficult time.
It's suuuper simple, but I've found it really helpful for checking in with the people I care about without too much pressure.
Try it out and let me know if you have any thoughts or feedback! I'll keep an eye out over the weekend and respond to comments here (and maybe add some features if we get some good suggestions).
I don’t understand how this is any different / better than sms / iMessage etc.
Also there is zero chance I would be able to get mum parents to install and use this.
@mickc79 It's an intentional place for checking in so encourages you to do that more frequently, and it might be easier to use this than sending a message saying "I'm feeling depressed today".
Other messaging apps are totally better for having a proper discussion though, and HRU links out to SMS/WhatsApp for that.
Agreed it's a bit of work to get set up, which is why there's a "single player mode" where you can try it out on your own before committing to inviting someone.
Do you have any suggestions for making it easier to get your parents onboard?
