HIgedi

#1 social app for gestational diabetes meal & snack ideas

88 followers

HIgedi is primarily a social app connecting women with gestational diabetes, creating a supportive community centered around food—meals, snacks, and everything in between, which are at the heart of every gestational diabetes journey. While many apps focus on tracking and data, none truly address the need for community among the millions experiencing gestational diabetes and facing similar challenges.

HI PH! My name is Julija and I am thrilled to share HIgedi with this community, not only to gather feedback but also to raise awareness about gestational diabetes (and how common it actually is). I hope the app will reach those in need and also attract individuals who are eager to share their knowledge and offer guidance, including moms with past experience, nutritionists, healthcare providers, and more. I am not a healthcare professional myself, but I am a mom with lived experience of gestational diabetes. What is HIgedi? HIgedi is the #1 social app connecting women with gestational diabetes experience. Available on both the App Store and Google Play, the app was designed with one simple goal in mind: 'You don't have to do it on your own.' HIgedi isn't a tracker; it's primarily a supportive community. It's a place to connect with others in the same situation, seek and offer advice, engage in discussions, share both successes and challenges, read inspiring stories, and, above all, provide and receive support. You can search for specific topic-related posts by entering keywords, find other women with similar experiences in your area, or explore 'gestational diabetes-related' products. Why HIgedi? Did you know that more than 1 in 10 pregnancies are affected by gestational diabetes, affecting roughly 22 million pregnancies in 2023? Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy and can lead to complications for both the expecting mom and the newborn. While certain factors may increase the likelihood of experiencing gestational diabetes, it's essential to note that it is typically unrelated to one's lifestyle or family history. Dealing with gestational diabetes isn't one-size-fits-all, so it's all about providing and receiving support, guidance, and learning. I felt alone on my journey, and I hope that HIgedi will help others in the same situation feel more cared for. My wife really struggled to find info on this concept when she was pregnant so it was a huge stressor. Can I ask - I see you have a food goodies section, but the moment I saw this I wondered if it was possible to scan a barcode and get a sense of nutritional info for a product. Is that even possible? Just know it would A) be amazing for expectant mothers to be able to gut-check products, B) be an amazing retention/engagement feature and C) allow you open up affiliat revenue potentially as you refer users to add items to cart.

@markham_nolan1 For now, I've curated the Marketplace to feature products that have been tried, tested, and recommended by women with experience in gestational diabetes. There are currently a few open databases of food products from around the world, such as OpenFoodFacts. Including this wasn't initially among my goals, but I will explore the possibility of incorporating something similar in future development. Thank you for the idea.

@julija_ud Best of luck!

@markhamnolan Thank you so much! Did your wife have the actual diagnosis? If so, perhaps she would be interested in getting in touch with me. 😇
