Habitify has always been my go-to when it comes to daily routine tracking. I thought I could never use it on my Mac but finally!
I've been using Habitify on my phone for months and so far found it the best habit tracking app I've ever used, so excited with this macOS version but Is 20 USD a once time purchase?
Let's get this out of the way: It's a great app with the potential to be truly excellent. Many apps are either beautiful, fully-featured, or simple. Very few manage to be all three at the same time. They've been working on their mobile app since at least 2016 (that's when I discovered it), and now the MacOS offering is as wonderfully elegant as a native Mac app.
It's a 1.0, so iteration and improvement is expected, but here is what is needed most in my opinion:
1. There's no way to see all your habits at once.
2. You can't scroll to tomorrow. It just doesn't exist
Here's a possible scenario featuring 1 and 2: Let's say you create a new habit to start tomorrow. Once you create it, there's no way to access it until tomorrow. No master list, and no tomorrow list. Either one or the other is necessary!
3. Give me more options than either the current period of the day (morning/afternoon/evening), or "all." For example, if I don't get to one of my "morning" habits by afternoon, my choices are to either not have it in my view in "afternoon" or to switch to "all" where my list will be cluttered with all my irrelevant evening habits. There should be an option to keep that morning habit hanging on to my afternoon list in case I want to get to it later. My opinion is that there should be custom contexts for habits. Morning/afternoon/evening is a good start, but that may not apply to everyone, and I'd love to add a custom context like "at the computer" for my daily tasks, etc.
4. The English. I understand not all apps are created by native English speakers, but in 2018 there's no excuse for grievous mistakes. The website is one thing, but the mistakes in the app store (and the app itself) need to be fixed. Even the main screen says "all habit."
Finally, why is the word "Journal" editable? Am I supposed to paste inspirational quotes in there or something?
I've been using this app on iOS for some time now and the Mac version is immediately familiar and comfortable to use. A great app!
Excellent communication from developers and they listen to their buyers
