Hey, @ryanholiday! If you had to summarize the most important learning from your book in a few sentences, what would it be?

@rrhoover Aaron Ginn's line about "mindset vs tool kit" has stuck with me the most. Also, the idea of retention vs acquisition is something I think a lot about. It's way more fun to GET customers or attention, much less exciting typically to focus on efforts to convert, keep or grow those customers. But the latter is much cheaper and much more directly tied to revenue than the former. So for me, I wanted people to leave the book with a new mindset to apply to growing their products and brands.

In 2013, I wrote an article and ebook as an MVP called "Growth Hacker Marketing: A Primer on the Future of PR, Marketing & Advertising." That book went on to sell tens of thousands of copies and was translated in many languages. Today, a revised and greatly expanded edition comes out in ebook and paperback with Penguin Portfolio. It came out of my experiences as the director of marketing at American Apparel and realizing just how irrelevant many of these skills are in light of the massive growth success stories we're seeing in the startup space. Billion dollar brands are being created without traditional marketing--if you're trying launch, grow or build a business, it's important to study why and most importantly, how this is happening. I've been appreciating Product Hunt's success from afar and how they've managed themselves to growth so quickly from "nothing to something" as I say in the book. We're giving away 10 signed copies to the first people who sign up here. Also, if you want to join 30,000 people (including a ton of high profile tech founders, editors, authors, investors and executives) who get once a month book recommendations from me, just sign up for my newsletter here http://www.ryanholiday.net/readi... Oh and here is my goat with her copy: https://twitter.com/RyanHoliday/... Feel free to ask me questions. And of course, check out the book on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Growth-Hac... Ryan

Hey @ryanholiday, how's it going? I really enjoyed the original book and thought it was a great introduction to growth hacking and startup culture. I'm going to recommend it to a couple of guys who I'm working with to make sure we're all on the same page. (no pun intended) My question is, what do I have to look forward to in the expanded version?

@maxwood That's very cool of you, thank you. So the new book is literally twice the length, and it's also available in paperback for the first time. Audiobook (which I recorded) is on its way too. I think Amazon is just a little slow on that account. In terms of notable additions: -A bunch more, updated examples in all the four sections -Lots of tweaks based on feedback, criticism and suggestions -An FAQ -A glossary of important terms and concepts -An new conclusion/afterward where I explain how I applied growth hacking to the book itself -I'm sure there is some other stuff I am forgetting. Hope that answers your questions. Please do recommended the book--that's been the #1 driver so far (which is basically true for every successful product in my experience)
