I noticed how my wife a 5th grade reading and writing teacher was spending her Christmas break grading essays. I wanted to come up with a solution to help her and other teachers! EssayGrader is the result, a solution to a real world problem I noticed first-hand. EssayGrader can be used to quickly grade essays based on a set of grading points, it can detect errors and provide suggestions and it can summarize long essays. Coming soon will be a way to detect if essays were written by AI. My goal is to have an all-in-one solution for teachers and or students when writing essays/papers. Many teachers are (somewhat understandably) upset about the use of ChatGPT in school but their acceptance might shift with the rise of tools like this. Is this good enough to replace manual grading or does it still require a teacher to spend a similar amount of time reviewing, @payton_burdette?

@rrhoover great question! I've received very similar questions from local teachers. My answer is, EssayGrader is not meant to replace teachers but assist them. Since the teacher is still the professional and should know more than the AI. I recommend still some manual intervention to some extent. But the time it takes to grade is reduced dramatically since rubric grading data can point out how a student did in certain grading categories. Also could be used as a step in the grading process for more accurate results. I hope AI gets to a place where it could reduce any manual grading, but I don't think we are there yet. As soon as we get some paying customers, I plan to implement an AI detection tool for them to use as well. This should combat against chatGPT Thank you for that question :) Also any recommendations you see are very welcomed!
