@anna_0x Yeah, maybe that's not the best of examples! 😃
You'll be happy in the cases where there isn't an 'x' or a button though! I find that a lot of blog engines, (looking at you medium), presents some very big "bars" atop or bottom of their pages, which just gets in the way.
Plus, you can let ekill hold a grudge against an element and have it killed off automatically on subsequent visits. 👍
@rhardih Oh I see, thanks for the detailed example~ I read Medium articles on my phone so never noticed what they do on desktop. Seems like an adblocker that lets you manually block ads does the same thing though, no? This sure looks like a faster way though.
This is a really cool product but some third party javascript elements can't be blocked, like chats windows or in-window popups. Are you going to add the ability to block those? I find it really annoying when bots start talking to me on a webpage.
@sean_daly Hey Sean! Thank you for the feedback. Yes, I do plan to improve the 'kill' power as an ongoing effort. It's a hard problem to win out in all cases, since you never quite know what Javascript sorcery is present on all pages. If you have any specific examples, where ekill fails, I'd love to keep track of them, so I can do some experimentation. Feel free to create a new issue on github, or perhaps stick it onto this one: https://github.com/rhardih/ekill...
I finally got fed up with all the popups and annoying stuff that get's in your way on modern websites and decided to build a small chrome extension to get rid of them. I've open sourced ekill on github, so any suggestions etc. are welcome.
Other than that, enjoy browsing the web hassle free!
