Thanks @jackcrump! When the Earthquake hit Mexico city last year, we were amazed by the number of people on social media who offered to help. Facebook and twitter were full of posts of people saying things like “Hey I live in the downtown and I have a forklift if anyone needs it” or “My internet connection is still running well if anyone wants to connect to wifi”. It was awesome.
The only problem was that there was just so much being posted about the earthquake that actually finding these offers were hard. Especially when they started being posted as non-searchable screenshots on other social media platforms.
We thought it’d be cool if there was a place to collect all these offers to help in one easy to search place, so we built the crisis map. Right now we’re actually concentrating on building out the platform we won the product hunt hackathon with, but we thought we’d share this anyway because it’s still really useful.
