@krrishd Indeed, AnyMarket is launching here in the next few days. It's essentially the same thing only no mobile app at launch, just desktop and mobile web. Apple is suffocating its app developers right now, with many developers resorting to gaming the system just to get downloads. So I'm okay with not having a mobile app at launch. The desktop web is mature and gives us time to smooth out what we're doing wrong and right before putting in the work for a mobile app. We've partnered with two fraternities at University of California, Berkeley and have 100+ products already listed (just so there's some stuff there when the first people start to come on).
Our approach to verification is the same as Classy -- when the site is open you'll have to have a @berkeley.edu to get on. My co-founder and I have been debating a lot about what the best way to go about this is, so we've decided to stop twiddling our thumbs, release it, and see what people think. I'll be sure to post a link here on Product Hunt when it goes live, so please don't share it right now. :)
Maybe Classy will beat us out, maybe they won't. Not going to spend my time stressing about a competitor and what they're doing.
@rjvir and @davefontenot launched a similar app a couple years ago called market loco. what do you guys think of Classy / what did you guys learn that can be of help here?
