BugClip is the easiest and most reliable way to identify bugs and spiders. Simply take a photo, and BugClip’s AI will analyze the image to provide you with the most likely bug, spider, or insect match. Users can enjoy one free bug identification every day.
This will probably be my last AI wrapper identifier app. I launched this project using Adam Lyttle’s source code for an AI Wrapper, PHP Proxy to host my API key securely, and paywall, all customized and revised to my needs. This source code developed into an app which has its own charm and uniqueness.
The power of this app lies in the customized prompt that is appended to the user’s identification prompt message. It is within this customized prompt that I explain to the chat model its mission and how to structure the response. The main thing is to stress to the chat model that it cannot provide a response lacking in confidence, so it instead adds a confidence score to its identification result to inform the user of how accurate the result is.
So why my last AI wrapper app? Well, this is a very niche and “light” application of AI since many alternatives (such as Apple’s Visual Intelligence) exist to replace these. AI wrappers seem to be a temporary trend.
Have any of you tried making an AI wrapper identification tool? If so, what did you learn from the process?
Just launched update 1.1.0 for BugClip on the App Store! This update improves the premium-level offerings as well as the standard free features. Some notable changes:
New set of educational facts for Premium users
Shareable identification results
New followup question suggestion for AI identification results
A few new onboarding features
This app has seen around about 50 downloads in just the past three days!! Now, this is part of the initial boost Apple provides to new apps, so I'm not expecting it to last, but nevertheless this AI identifier, alongside my rock identifier: RockClip, have shattered my download records which have been about 30 downloads a month combined for my other two apps: Shadow Task and TipZap.
