You want to access a website. But your hotel or provider blocks that page? Visit browser.cool and start a new browser instance in the country of your choice. No configuration required, ready in 3 min. And after you are done - everything gets destroyed.
π Hi guys,
my name is Jim, I am a frequent traveler and got annoyed a bit too often by internet restrictions when being abroad. Sometimes the hotel or provider blocks just the page I want to visit.
You could set up a VPN. But not everyone can or wants to do that. And it has to be in the "right location" depending on the page you want to visit.
So here is my suggestion:
Starting a new machine in the desired location, and then streaming a video of that browser right into your browser. No configuration etc. required. After you are done, everything is destroyed.
I think that is f**ing cool (but I am biased, for sure). This could be an easy way for non-technical people to access information that would not be available to them otherwise. Countries that come immediately to my mind are Egypt, China, Iran, but to be fair - many more countries regulate or censor the web. I.e. think of US news sites that are blocked for Europeans because of GDPR constraints.
I am still working on proper mobile support, so for now this is desktop only. There is a free 10 min trial, and if you want to spend more time, I've added a promo code to product hunt.
Let me know what you think, I am open to any feedback.
I could need some help with solving these issues:
1. Any idea to what I could do if this becomes so popular that e.g. China blocks my main page?
2. How do I promote this site to the people that do not know how to set up a VPN?
It really works and the claims are true. You do get an IP (I got it from Ireland) and it was impossible to trace back to my own IP. I'm not saying you should trust this company, rather that their IP claims are true. If you really just want to access a web from another location, it is really a very neat solution. The speeds were OK too.
Thank you, George. Great feedback π
You can choose the desired location (Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, β¦) before starting the instance.
Performance is good enough to watch a video. But to be honest, it is slower than accessing it directly, without using this service. (Because of technical limitations)
What could we do to increase the trust into this service? As it is a dedicated instance for each user, we could give shell access with root permissions. Do you think this would help or is too technical?
