Hello Product Hunters!
We have been waiting for this moment for months. After months of testing we would like to present you with Boost the News - our tool, which can predict potential number of your online articles readers. From now on, you can easily verify how many people read news related to your products and your company or articles about your competitors.
The idea is simple. There are many ways to estimate how many people could read articles published in an offline magazine.
Paradoxically, in the online world where everything can be calculated, getting this kind of data is sometimes impossible. Of course, you can ask a publisher or the article’s author to share the stats with you, but it could prove to be unnecessarily complicated and time consuming.
We developed a tool, which works similar to other media monitoring platforms. Using Boost the News, you would not only be notified each time that a new article about your brand or related topic appears online, but also you will get potential exposure estimation. We strongly believe that this information is as important as getting likes, shares etc.
Please check it out. I'm here to answer all of your questions! :)
Thanks,
Michal
@orzechowskipm Could you elaborate more about the prediction model? Or it will just looks like a unrealistic number. BTW, the signup button on header is blur, try to optimize it for retina browsing.
@chang2301 Thx, for your feedback. First, our advanced algorithms collect and recalculate the available data for the articles which appeared on a particular site. We use many different sources to cross reference information regarding the size of the site and the volume of traffic. We also collect information pertaining to the daily number and frequency of publications. This information bundle allows our advanced algorithms to recalculate the probability of exposure.
@orzechowskipm I have the same opinion as @bentossell in the following comment. The estimation itself is only useful when the algorithm is powerful and valid, which now I only see a range that cannot help your users make the right forecast. Also, as a marketing tool, you really need to fine tune the UX in a way to save your user the day, not creating complication.
@chang2301 the main issue is that prior to this you didn't have any available data, not even a range of estimates. Counting likes and shares is important but hardly enough. This way, we're able to provide our users with additional tools which could help them in making a forecast based on richer information.
Isn't this also just estimated numbers? On the example I see '10,000 - 20,000 views' which is obviously a range and a different of 10,000 can be quite significant.
When the numbers get into the hundreds of thousands what are the common ranges?
I say this because you said 'There are many ways to estimate how many people could read articles published in an offline magazine.' - but this seems the same, for online?
The comment made me think that you could actually get the numbers of people who read the content but it seems that it just notifies you about your brand & related news - with a potential reach estimation
So what makes this better than other monitoring platforms out there?
@bentossell I appreciate your questions. The estimation is presented in a range form due to the fact that some articles will be more popular than others. For websites with heavier traffic, this range will of course be broader. We realize that this range is rather wide now, but we're still optimizing our engines in order to provide more accurate data.
Our tool works in a similar way to other available tools out there, but what makes us stand out is the fact that we're actually taking on the challenge of estimating the number of times that each article was actually read.
@orzechowskipm ok... so in my opinion the estimation would need to be super powerful in order to be above and beyond the other tools already out there, otherwise its just a tool that does the same as others and provides a rough estimation - which, for the most part, doesnt provide much insight.
Even Facebook ads let you do very specific targeting and their ranges are pretty broad too - they have a very powerful wealth of data too.
@orzechowskipm yeah and what are you working on that will make it get there?
Do you think your estimations are going to be able to be more accurate than something like Facebook?
@bentossell thank you for your concern. I believe that the facebook estimation of potential traffic or number of ad views is different than what we, at Boost the News are trying to accomplish. It's not really possible to compare that two.
