One of the key promises of Bluesky lands... composable moderation! This means that rather than relying on a centralized and opaque service to choose what you see and when, you (or a service you designate) can decide for you. If you don't like it, you can change to something else. And if you really get fed up, you can spin up your own moderation service, and let other people subscribe or contribute to your efforts. Don't sleep on this — this is one of the most interesting ideas to actually see the light of day in social media in recent times... From the team itself: Ozone, the open source moderation labeling system we’re releasing today, lets you set up a service like a blocklist, but more nuanced — instead of just adding accounts, you can label specific posts too. You will have access to a reporting queue, and users will be able to send reports via the in-app reporting flow. You will be able to set custom labels, and specify what those labels should do. Moderation services will not be tied to individual users, and multiple people can manage them. Tooling designed for teams and communities can help take the burden off individuals and make it possible to run a sustainable moderation service.

Finally. Twitter turning to X, or new 4chan, left us with Threads, which never fixed the stuff that was as problem from the start. It just works. It's not that hard of a thing to do. Just make something that does what twitter did before Elon got there. Took a while but seems like Bluesky did it.

A huge shoutout to Bluesky for creating an incredible platform! Dragonfly wouldn’t be possible if Bluesky wasn't open-source. We’re so excited to help bring it to more devices and enhance the experience even further!
