Avy is a journaling app designed to help you understand and improve your mental well-being. By analyzing your journal entries for sentiment and cognitive distortions, it provides you with valuable insights to recognize distorted thinking patterns.
2 years ago at the age of 26, I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, after unknowingly (or naively) struggling for over a decade. This diagnosis was a pivotal moment for me, to finally know why I was feeling the way I was, was a game changer... well, life changing.
At this time I was building websites but this was the start of exploring how I could build and develop things to address my mental health challenges and potentially help others facing similar issues. I wanted to create a tool that could offer the same kind of clarity and support that my diagnosis and therapy provided me. Over the years I’ve always been drawn to making things to help in this area.
Avy is designed to analyse journal entries for sentiment and thought distortions, helping users recognise and understand their thinking patterns. Despite its simplicity, it has been instrumental in providing me with insights into my own mental processes. It really has served as a catalyst for further learning and exploration into mental health.
It’s very early days but I want to keep building this out and use it as a platform for software services that are focused on wellness and the mental health space.
