@waterkant@jsneedles And I'd like my old screen name back from 1996 as I said in another messages. "You've got mail" would be shockingly brilliant but be sure to get the localization right :) The fact that it's an AOL email client makes it retro out of the box.
I'd move way from other clients in favor of this. As for Gmail, that sucks. All we need now is Excite for search and we're set for Christmas.
This looks very Google Now / Material Design-esque. Not necessarily a bad thing. The real question though: do push notifications come with the "You've got mail" sound byte?
@bentossell Cards in the message list and the dashboard mean that you have to read less email. Over time, we'd love it if the message list got so smart you never had to read at all.
@bentossell Dave beat me to it, but the crux of what makes Alto really special is seeing messages that matter most visually promoted as you scroll through your inbox, along with the summary of them in the dashboard. The dashboard then sorts them by spatial and temporal relevance so you know when you need to Uber to the airport versus when that package was dropped off at home. And really this is just the tip of the iceberg. Lots of great stuff is happening with cards to super-charge their usefulness, and we're fine tuning the next round of categories that we'll reveal as stacks.
@arlo I'm still trying to find an article I read at the beginning of the year about cards and it's driving me mad!
Cards have a lot of potential in certain applications and I definitely think email is one of them :)
