Hey everybody! I'm Song YiYi the founder of YiChi. I have been on a journey of helping Mandarin learners across the world. Having taught Mandarin to thousands of learners across different countries, I came to realize that a lot of my students kept struggling with pronunciation of Mandarin words/phrases. It was frustrating to find even the advance learners, who had cleared HSK level 4-5 (Chinese language proficiency exams), were struggling with pronunciation (Initials, Finals & Tones) and identifying and understanding tones during conversations. It became my personal goal to build a solution that can assist and help any mandarin learner with their pronunciation. So, without any app or product development experience, I set out to build a mobile app designed for mandarin learners who want to get better at their mandarin pronunciation. With the help of my amazing team, and a lot of hard work I am proud to share with you all - YiChi. The app, YiChi, is integrated with powerful technology that can breakdown a learner’s pronunciation of mandarin characters into Initials, Finals & Tones (along with their fluency) and give accurate scores instantly. It is capable of helping the learner understand their phonetics better and practice precisely where the improvement is needed. We have specifically created lessons for each individual's needs. Doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an intermediate, if you want to perfect your Chinese pronunciation for a business trip, for HSK preparations or just to have a casual conversation we have curated special lessons and courses for your needs. The app currently can help anyone who can understand English/English speakers who are trying to learn Chinese Mandarin. I have a vision of helping learners across the world acquire, learn and share this amazing language better. Hey @song_yiyi, Congratulations on the launch of YiChi. I really liked that you went for it and developed your first app about something you are passionate about. I have been learning Mandarin for a few months now through various online courses, and by using an English to Mandarin dictionary. Even though I like the online courses, I have been struggling with the speaking part and having some issues identifying tones. I am excited about your app especially if it'll help me with that problem. I wanted to ask you whether there are quizzes or challenges available on your app which will help with testing my tones and pronunciations? All the best for your launch!

I understand how difficult it is to practice pronunciation even with a good knowledge of the language as most of my students also struggle with it. YiChi was designed to help with exactly the problems that you are facing. The App tests your Initial, Final and Tone for every word that you speak and it can tell you exactly where you went wrong for each and every word in a sentence. It will also give you an overall accuracy score based on your pronunciation.
