Hi all, Hoz here. Just sharing a couple of things that I believe the Academy addresses for new and not so new SEOs: Why is learning SEO from scratch important? Like learning to drive, learning SEO fundamentals and understanding how search engines work and why they work the way they do is something you only need to do once. The problem is that there is a lot of information out there, and much of it is not accurate. A slight miscalculation caused a $125 million dollar NASA probe to miss its target by millions of miles. SEO is a mid-to long-term game. Ranking for competitive terms takes time. If you don’t have a solid grasp of the fundamentals, you can miss your target without understanding why, or - more importantly - without knowing how to take corrective action. This is a huge waste of time and effort. Don’t let it happen to you. Take the time to learn the fundamentals to maximise the impact of everything you do from thereon. And this question that popped up: What's your TOP 1 advice for learning SEO? To maximise your learning, I think more than 1 tip is needed. Here’s my top 5: 1. Put aside everything you’ve heard or learned about SEO so far and keep and open mind to learn the fundamentals. 2. Watch one video every day and take time to think deeply about each video. 3. Write down takeaways in bullet points to cement the learning. 4. Put learning into practice by doing. Create a project and implement what you learn after each video ‘as-you-go’. 5. Aim for fast and easy wins. A million dollars is made up of single dollars. Learn to rank for easy keywords first before you start targeting higher search volume terms.

@theycallmehoz As a new employee still picking up on SEO, my number 1 advice for learning SEO in overall and while taking the course should be: - Pick your goal before going through the course and tackle goal by goal. For me, the first goal is to have an overall knowledge of the SEO world. Now, I can somewhat understand the Linkedin insight joke to some extent haha. Right now, my next goal is to actually grasp the idea of ranking for a real keyword and somehow can make more sense to my Linkedin content.
