Discover causes you never knew existed, amazing nonprofits, and fund projects that need you. Wingtap is your one-stop shop for making a difference: vetted organizations feature projects with a $ target, share updates, and you can support them.
This is only the initial version, but I believe it’s a strong start. It’s user-friendly and provides a lot of confidence when I want to find out more about NGOs. It makes me feel like I’m making a positive impact on the world and the lives of its inhabitants.
I think most people support nonprofits in one way or another but, like me, struggle to make donations (or any kind of contribution) as often as we think we could 😓 And for our defense, I'm pretty sure we would do it more if it was made easy, enjoyable, preferably without worrying about getting scammed...
🔍 Meanwhile, recent surveys show that over 50% of people wish there was, I quote, a “mobile app that allows two-tap giving”. It makes sense, we’re all used to two-tap apps that made our lives so easy: two taps to order food, a driver, to book your next holiday.
So, where can I do two taps to build a school, restore a coral reef, protect elephants, rescue lemurs? 🧐
Together with my brother @kitanirjv - that’s precisely what we decided to make! We dived into the world of charitable giving, and designed what the best experience could look like for users. After two years of juggling our startup and full-time jobs, while pouring our savings into it 🙈 Wingtap is born!
And what if I told you there are 10 million estimated nonprofits worldwide? Imagine how many cool ones you’ve never heard of 🤯 So that’s what Wingtap also does for you: the heavy lifting and research to bring you la crème de la crème on a silver platter, the finest nonprofits who can show you what they do and what they need your support for. As a bonus, you get you to learn interesting stuff about our planet, animals, humans.
If you also don’t think that throwing soup at paintings is the solution, but are curious to see how many like-minded people it takes to make a difference, come join us!
@sejal_asnani Thank you Sejal, you've been so supportive from the first conversation! Really cool, and I am happy to know we can count on you to see how far will Wingtap go! Let's get those nonprofits the recognition they deserve and the spotlight they need to do their work.
@ameeeshaaa Thank you Ameesha, really appreciate your motivation and excitement! We do hope more and more people will share your point of view and we can have big impact!
@memphys_sk Hi Stefans, good question! Actually for that we have a whole vetting process:
1. first we find them (online, recommendations, certifications, awards, etc. wherever we can),
2. then we review their financials, legal documents, annual reports, impact reports, social media, news articles.
3. we contact them and meet the team and/or founder over video call. If we have the same vision and passion to make things better, we partner up!
4. we agree on a project to fund and feature on wingtap
5. they provide us with updates and commit to let us know how it develops and what they do.
Whether they are impactful it's for you to judge, we are as transparent as possible :) the projects we have a clearly defined, so you see for yourself, is it worth protecting elephants from poaching? Is it worth giving children a stipend so they can finish school instead of start working at 14? Is it worth protecting coral reefs? We can just tell you that the organizations we partner with are extremely committed to make that happen, but they do need funds.
To be honest, it's quite some work, but we really look for passionate and committed people and teams. We can vouch for everyone of them, they are extremely committed to their causes.
@memphys_sk Thank you Stefans. Like my brother outlined, we do all the detective work to ensure the organizations are legit, have healthy financials, have a proper strategy in place, are transparent, and regularly provide some updates and proof of impact - which we will then share on Wingtap.
Our pledge is that any organization or project you see on Wingtap - you can trust it ✅
Refreshing to see an app for nonprofit!.. As someone who takes animal and nature conservation close to heart and tries to donate little sums here and there, I'll definitely check this out. Do you plan to release an Android version as well though?
@natalia_toth Oh Natalia then you're in for a ride! The app is out on both Android and iPhone, feel free to download it now, we have lemurs, elephants, cats, turtles, apes, lemurs, whales, at the moment. They are just waiting for your support :)
Every now and then you can check, we'll be posting updates on those projects. And if you have any nonprofit you'd like to see on there that you can recommend, we'd be happy if you send us their information.
@natalia_toth in case it helps the Play Store link for Android is here: https://play.google.com/store/ap...
Thank you so much for your support! If you're into animal and nature conservation you will surely find some interesting projects on the app 👀
@kitanirjv I love the different categories, although maybe I'd add some filter (e.g. by location? or subcategory?)
I also love that you show the people behind each project and give the NGO's contacts. That builds trust :)
I'd probably prefer the word 'donate' over 'invest', as it would sound more natural to me but maybe it's just me!
