Hey Product Hunt, I'm excited to launch Windows9X today. It's a Windows 95/98 simulation where all apps are AI-generated, bringing to life the childhood imagination of computers that the "run" dialog create any program you described. Key features: - AI app generation: Describe an app, and the system creates it - Interconnected ecosystem: Apps can interact and share data - Persistent file system: Maintains state across sessions and even sync it to the filesystem on your computer. - LLM integration: Enables AI-powered applications This project started as a joke but has started to move into the territory of actually being useful. For example: I now use a generated Kanban board for managing the project itself. Windows9X is also open-source, so if you want to riff on it, please do. I hope you enjoy this retro-futuristic oddity as much as I do. I'm looking forward to seeing what kinds of apps you create with it. Let me know what you think!

@rrhoover the thing that I was surprised about (but maybe shouldn't be) is that the vast majority of people have been using it to make games! I've seen some fun ai powered games (like one where you are trying to barter with an ai npc). I saw one person create a Czech language study guide and was using it to actually practice. This is a very silly platform for generating apps, but after building this I am convinced that on demand generated apps are the future!
