We've been working on this project for a few years now and are really excited to introduce you to the latest feature - the Social Feed. In a nutshell, this feature is basically a social network for real estate and neighborhoods.
I recently relocated to Los Angeles from North Carolina and was initially overwhelmed by LA's myriad of options and neighborhoods. As a former college soccer player with two energetic puppies, I was looking for a space with a combination of proximity to dog parks and an adult soccer league. WikiRealty and the community insights it offered were invaluable in deciding where we ended up living. It can be hard to parse through Zillow/Trulia etc where you can't get this kind of perspective and we are excited to see how Product Hunters will take to it and create your own unique communities.
In addition to our feature here on Product Hunt, we are announcing our 100 To 100 Challenge!
The first 100 people to get 100 followers will win up to $900 in Facebook Advertising by WikiRealty.
For more information on this you can read our blog post here: https://blog.wikirealty.com/2016...
We are to help and answer all questions and would love to hear your feature requests!
@lesternare Hey Lester, this seems interesting...I think I'm a bit confused as to which road you guys are traveling….a wiki by definition is a platform that allows collaborative editing of its content and structure by its users. Adding a social layer on top of this in the form of a feed for real estate and neighborhoods feels a bit to bloated and is a tough thing to get right.
I do strongly commend the push toward fostering micro communities that share, engage and empower one another locally, it’s an interesting move that I think has so much room and potential to flourish especially in the shadows of the social network app Neighborhood.
Sorry if I’m repeating myself a bit….but is the vision more about fostering a medium in which people can collectively collaborate and share content locally and privately among themselves? Or is it more about fostering a much more robust and linear approach to how we onboard new residence and welcome and empower people into a community.
Love the feedback, you definitely hit the nail on the head with the later point. There is a wealth of information around the idea of neighborhoods and communities as they relate to the purchase of real estate that you just don't get on portals like Zillow/Trulia/Realtor. Real estate is continuing to become a lifestyle decision. If you bring together local residents who are leaders in their communities alongside real estate professional from every vertical, the insights you could glean about where you are considering to live and work could be impactful.
Great idea. We have been working in real estate market for more than 10 years and this is something that will hit the mark nicely. Search results are bit slow to produce and responsiveness is not the greatest. Overall with few crucial touch-ups could be great service.
