Hey y'all! If you're anything like me, you find yourself using a whois service a few times a month to learn about the folks behind a project and reach out, to inquire about purchasing the product, or to find out when the domain will expire.
If you're also like me, you're sick of slow whois websites that have a very outdated UI and simply spit out a raw dump of the whois records.
That's why I made WhoZat! WhoZat uses the Google Maps API to validate and format the registered address and embed an interactive map. It also uses NeverBounce to confirm the registered email addresses. It'll even tell you if the email address is catchall or disposable. Furthermore, the layout of the data considers the importance of the information and gives you the most valuable data first.
I hope you enjoy! 🤓
@calebrown I use whois searches a lot to find interviewees for Mixergy. This will help make it easier.
I like how easy it is to find the owner's contact info, but why did you leave the tech contact out?
Also, I noticed to things that others do which could help you:
1) they include the ugly listing below the cleaned up version. It shows how ugly things are without then and allows them to be comprehensive.
2) they show a captcha when I do many searches. I hate it. I'd rather log in. But I think you'll need some kind of protection from automated systems
Thanks for making this!
@andrewwarner Thanks Andrew! Very, very good points! Soon I'll be displaying tech contact, I'll be matching it against the main contact info so we don't show info twice. Also in the next version there will be the ability to expand a section and see the entire 'raw' data feed at the bottom of the page. I couldn't agree with you more, I'd *much* rather have a super simple login step and avoid the captcha step - that's also coming 😀 part of the launch strategy was to reduce as much friction as possible this first week to allow folks to try it out before the bots come!
Thanks again for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I hope you give it a bookmark and I'll make sure to get those features in there asap!
Thanks again, also big fan of Mixergy! I used to work for Vaynermedia wayyy back in the day when I first heard about Mixergy in 2010 😊 Cheers!
