Web3 ID is a blockchain-based auth system that lets you verify private personal data from your users' ID Wallets. Always with the users' consent and secured by cryptography. Enable passwordless login, prevent user tracking, and avoid data collection.
Hello Product Hunt! 👋
Currently, we mainly use email addresses and social media profiles to sign in to websites and apps. This is convenient but leads to privacy issues, with giant corporations tracking us online and collecting our data for their benefit 🙅
Web3 introduced the ability to sign in using crypto wallets. But the problem with crypto wallets is that all the user data a developer can verify is on a public, immutable database called blockchain ⛓️ This limits the types of data that can be verified about a user. I don't want anyone putting my private personal data on a public blockchain, and you shouldn't too (it's a big privacy risk 😵)
💡 That's why we built Web3 ID! Here’s how it works:
1. Your website gets a Sign-in with Web3 ID button (OAuth 2.0 compliant)
2. Each user has an ID Wallet in their phone containing their data, secure, and verified with cryptography
3. Users scan a QR Code, decide what data they want to share with you and get instantly signed in.
It’s as simple as that! 🙌 Users can even share their data using very cool privacy techniques. (Coming soon: Zero-Knowledge Proofs, the ability to prove something without sharing the data that supports the proof).
Some initial Web3 ID use cases are:
🐣 Age verification for Web3 gaming, gambling, and entertainment. Users can prove they are over 18 years old without disclosing their birth date or other private information.
🙋♀️ Verify eligibility to enter Metaverse and IRL experiences based on personal data.
✅ Proof of token ownership without revealing a wallet's address (and contents).
We would love you to try the live demo on the product link above 😃
I'll be here with our team, we’re looking forward to answering your questions!!
WoW! I am currently building a platform for web3 devs and have a wallet-based login. I will definitely have a look at your solution :)
Congratulations on the launch & upvote for your project ;)
