WeAct is a chat, task and organizing application for social activism and community outreach. WeAct features Chat, Structured Chats, Tasks, Task Marketplace, User Profiles, and Group Profiles. V1 runs on Web 2.0. V2 is being ported to blockchain (Dfinity.org)
This looks really cool! Digging the idea of creating a space to facilitate connections and collaboration—without the toxicity of Twitter, Facebook, etc.—among activists and groups.
@marylynncesar Thanks so much! If there is anything you would like to see in the app let us know. Feel free to share with friends as the platform really comes into its own when groups use it. :)
What we are showing here is the new UI for WeAct which is being applied to the version you will find in the Apple and Google app stores. We are interested in feedback on the shipping product but also how you might change the new UI designs based on your use of the V1 product. We will post more screens (there are over 75) as we get feedback.
We developed WeAct after spending a few years working with activist groups and studying how they used tech to support their causes. What tools were used, what worked and where they were frustrated. This is by no means the answer to all those problems but the beginning of bringing together tools they need to get things done and providing them much needed focus.
The design idea behind WeAct is amplify conversations with intent. So think more than chat, video, and tasks combined but instead we wanted to focus on achieving specific goals, rapid learning from success/failures all without the distractions that Discord, Telegram, Slack, and other general purpose apps sometimes can create. We also wanted it to be easier to find new groups, share events and crowdsource work. Again all in one platform.
The sidebar on this project is we are porting WeAct to Dfinity.org's Internet Computer. Once on the IC it will be rebranded as Catalyze with a target audience of both social impact groups and communities of interest.
As we move to the Catalyze offering the platform will introduce more decentralized elements, tokens, incentives, roles, and NFTs for in-app fundraising - basically becoming a DAO in the end.
