Hey, Product Hunt! And thanks to @mwseibel for hunting us!
I'm Alex, one of the founders of Waydev. Throughout our journey, we’ve encountered countless engineering teams striving to optimize their workflow, but often struggling to get clear, actionable insights from their pull requests. It’s not just about tracking the numbers—it’s about understanding the impact and making informed decisions to drive better outcomes. That's where we come in.
Over the last few months, we’ve been working closely with engineering leaders to identify the key challenges they face. While there are plenty of tools out there, we realized that none of them provided a comprehensive, intuitive view of pull request activity that truly empowers teams. So, we went back to the drawing board, rethinking how we could better serve this need.
-
This led us to an exciting discovery: providing clear, contextual insights directly within your development workflow could be a total game-changer. We reimagined our approach, and that’s how Waydev Pull Request Insights was born—a new feature designed to seamlessly integrate into your engineering processes and give you the clarity you need.
With that being said,
Introducing Waydev Pull Request Insights – the new feature to help you analyze, optimize, and understand your pull requests like never before. Get deep insights into your PRs, improve your review process, and ensure quality is always top-notch. But that's not all! You can leverage this feature for various purposes, including:
• Measuring review quality and team collaboration
• Understanding the impact of the Pull Requests
• Spotting risky PRs and bottlenecks
• Making data-driven decisions to improve your workflow
We’ve put our heart and soul into building this feature, and we can’t wait for you to try it out.
To celebrate the launch, we’re offering a 30-day free trial for any team with at least 20 engineers.
We’re excited to hear what you think and look forward to your feedback.
Thanks for being part of our journey!
This sounds intriguing, @alex_circei! Pull requests can be such a pain to analyze effectively. I’m curious about how your tool specifically identifies risky PRs and bottlenecks. Also, any plans for integrations with popular CI/CD tools? Would love to learn more about your approach!
Hi @michaelgreen ,
Thank you for your question! We often receive questions about insights into CI/CD tools, which are indeed a crucial part of the development process. Our team has extensive experience in this area, providing valuable insights through established standards like the DORA metrics.
We understand that each company has its unique way of setting up integrations. To accommodate this, we offer a highly flexible solution that allows us to ingest data directly from your CI/CD tools via our API. This capability not only enables us to support any type of CI/CD integration, but it also allows us to go beyond standard metrics. By combining the data you provide in innovative ways, we can create custom metrics tailored to your specific needs. This approach delivers deeper insights into how your tools and processes are performing, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement.
Regarding how we identify risky pull requests (PRs) and bottlenecks, we use a set of key indicators that help us pinpoint potential issues before they escalate. These indicators include, but are not limited to, the following: PRs containing risky commits, having an excessive number of changed files, being merged without proper review, remaining open longer than expected, containing numerous follow-on commits (those made in response to reviewer comments), and involving a large volume of code changes, among others. By monitoring these indicators, we can proactively identify areas of concern and address them before they become significant problems.
If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this in more detail, feel free to reach out.
Congrats for the launch @alex_circei@alexander_nitu@buzea_valentin@delia_adok This is a great addition to your core product. We have over 700 repositories on Creative Tim, and of course a lot of PRs. Can't wait to see how this will help our team. 🙏🏽🚀
