Post, browse and swipe on hangout invites (aka "vites") to make new friends in your area. Vites are casual – like going to the beach or trying out a new restaurant. You know what the other person’s interested in doing and when they want to do it. Join them!

Hi Product Hunt 👋 Making friends in a new place can be really hard, especially if you’ve got nothing to start with. Often the hardest part is finding people who share your interests and enjoy the same hobbies, and research shows that shared interests are a really solid foundation for friendship. “Friends” apps that follow the dating app model haven’t really worked for us at Vites. You can’t express yourself fully in a bio section. Appearance doesn’t matter as much as it does for dating. We didn't want to swipe through pictures of people’s faces and then have nothing to say to start a conversation. Group “events” apps work, but some of them ask you to pay to post an event. There’s also a lack of space on many of these apps to post an event for just two or three people. Vites allows you to post and swipe on “vites,” all for free. Vites are little invites – invitations to the things you do every day, that aren't necessarily an “event”. There’s no limit to how casual a vite can be – like going to the beach, rock climbing or trying out a new ramen restaurant. You can browse and swipe on vites in your area. Rather than swiping on user profiles, you’re swiping on invitations to hang out. You know what the other person’s interested in doing, when they want to do it and you know they’re looking for someone to share that experience with. You can download Vites on the iOS App Store at https://vitesapp.com/get or check us out at https://vitesapp.com. Looking forward to your feedback - any suggestions about how to improve are most welcome. Drop a comment down below if you have any questions or feedback. Jack & Ted Vites co-founders

Just downloaded. Really easy to use, and I love that you can swipe on activities rather than profiles. Cool UI too, especially the map screen. Best of luck!

@angadkap Thanks for the positive feedback. Hope the map view makes it easier for people to get an idea of what's going on in their local area.

Just downloaded and tested it out, agree with poster above. Cool UI and concept seems solid. No vites in my area but a couple of users online so I'll check back 👍

Novel and genuinely good concept, easy to use, clean UI, free (!). I can see it taking off once it establishes a critical mass of users
