Stuck inside searching for new things to do? Ruing missed travel plans? virtualmuseums.io aims to help by letting you tour the world's most famous virtual museums, letting you explore the world from the comfort of your home.
If your last few weeks have been anything like mine, you've probably been stuck in the house & a little bit bored. You might have also had travel plans cancelled, depriving you of a little bit of escapism.
One way I found of still getting a little bit of escapism was through the idea of virtual museums. These are basically efforts to digitise a musuem's archive, or provide a streetview-like tour through the museum.
There are loads of listicles floating around about the best virtual museums, but I felt like these were all lacking something, the feeling of actually travelling to these museums.
I wanted to recreate this feeling as much as possible by collating all the best virtual museums on a world map, and letting you track your progress as you explore them.
