Wow, my **FIRST** launch ever. What a feeling 🤩
End of last year, when OpenAI Vision came out, I thought how cool it would be if we could take software demos or product demos and turn them into full blown documentation? Like with multiple pages, code snippets and links and what not. So I started to work on VideoToPage.
While I finished the prototype, I later decided to keep the vision part out and focus just on the audio parts. But the next version will include those features again, but first I would like to know how people are actually using it.
**Nice things about this product I enjoyed implementing:**
1. A very fast aha-moment experience through a wizard-like onboarding process
2. It supports up to 5h content, so you can upload Podcasts, YouTube Videos, and more
3. 5-minute contents will ALWAYS BE FREE 100%
4. Deeply integrated AI-Assistant that can change anything you see, you just have to talk to it.
5. You can generate multiple pages based on you content. Each page highly customizable
6. Interlinked content, for leveraging SEO if you want to reuse as SEO Content
6. Share & Publish your content
7. Export contents in markdown format
---
**How I am using it today:**
1. YouTube videos to get insights, extract information, get lists of things mentioned, etc.
2. YouTube videos to generate reusable content that cane be posted as description
3. Reusable content for video material to automatically improve the SEO
4. Meetings: Summaries, Action Items, Todo Lists, etc
5. Brainstorming and Notes on the go, I just talk, record, and then use the app to structurize, and build different kinds of contents with it
This looks like an amazingly powerful SEO enhancer for Podcast makers and YouTubers. It amplifies the content and a lot of the time is the only way content can be consumed, e.g. can't watch videos or listen to podcasts while the TV is on. I hope self-hosting will be on the roadmap, but other than that: looks absolutely fantastic!
@mittermayr Hey Roman, thanks a lot for this fantastic use case of yours and feedback. The integration part is high on the list, so I am focusing now to just export the markdown files and soon html files. If you are familiar with markdown, you should be good to go already. Planned integrations are for example wordpress, nextra, docusaurus. If you have other expections where to export and self host it, let me know!
congratulations on your first product launch, lukas. it must be thrilling to see videotopage come to life after envisioning it post-openai vision release. since you transitioned the focus from the vision to audio, how have you navigated user feedback to refine the audio features? what has been the most surprising user case you've encountered so far?
@mashy Albert, thank you so much for your kind words and your question!
I have used VideoToPage now already in so many different ways! Learning from super long youtube videos, getting granular details from podcasts, planing this whole product hunt launch by just talking to the app while on a walk outside. Here an example where I was just reading suggestions, thinking out loud my strategy, and in the end I got this awesome content collection https://www.videotopage.com/p/e1...
Regarding Vision, so it is still in the pipeline, but given the the fact 'what' people are searching for, the whole vision complexity was not worth it for now. People tell me, give people what they want, and then give them what they need. That's why I want to first just focus on a good transcription and reusability service, and if people really like it, I will add back the vision add-on. It is quite a time consuming job to read the screen for a very long video and also it would increase the prices by a lot. But trust me, I really want vision back in again, so stay tuned!
