👋 Hello Product Hunters! :)
After months of hard work, I finally got to shipping what is likely my most meaningful product so far to me as a solo indiemaker.
This is my first ever product launch at product hunt, and for this launch I would like to introduce you to Veggsocial.
It’s the social platform for vegans, vegetarian, and anyone that is interested in plant based diets.
💬 The Story of Veggsocial and
For about 1 year ago, I started reading a book called How Not to Die by Dr Michael Greger. It was an awesome book that pointing out that how the most common and top deadly diseases
can be avoided or prevented by simply changing what we eat to a plant-based diets. It was an awesome book and has simply inspored me to give the plant based diet a try.
Few months into the plant-based diet, I decided to completely ditch out the meats and become a full time vegetarian for the sake of my health. Then soon after, I learnt how cruel an unethical the meat industry is and the impact that it has to the environment, and that has changed my whole perspective. I am now a vegetarian not only for my health, but also for my love of the animals and environment as a whole.
As an indiemaker and my love of making products, I was in search for a product to build. And near the end of last year, I was in searching for the next product to build. And one day, I was thinking to myself, what a better product to build if it’s not for the vegetarian and vegan community. Thus the research begun. I started looking at myself first and listed down the problem that I was having while being a vegetarian myself. And then I reach out to Facebook’s groups, Reddits, Meetups to really find out what can I make something that solved the problems that they have been having.

Let me know what you think 🙌
@ryzalyusoff Aw yeah, a shout out to Dr. Greger on PH! 💪🙏🏻🌱 Nicely done. I would consider including a link on the About page to what data you're referencing for the stats calculations. I tried to post a restaurant I recently went to but couldn't because it's not in an "active" city (assume this is coming in the near future).
@lizadixon Yeah Dr. Greger is the best and has inspired me a lot! 💪😸 That's a great idea, I will definitely add this on my to-do list. Also, may I know which city that you're trying to add the restaurant on? I'm happy to add new city onto Veggsocial 😄
You've done a nice job Ryzal. As far as I can tell your competition is Happy Cow, which has lifetime membership for a few dollars (by buying the pro app), less than you charge a month. What is going to draw people to Veggsocial rather than Happy Cow?
@fontalamh Thanks Rob! HappyCow is great and I've been using it myself a couple of times since I became vegetarian to find places to eat and visit. And as good as their solution in giving users option for finding these places, I feel that it's a bit hard there to connect with people.
And this is on of the reasons why I built Veggsocial and why I've built social features like Chatroom and Forum onto Veggsocial platform. Also, users can track their meatless days and see how much impacts that they have made on the environment. These features plus the fresh and up todate design is what I believe could draw people to Veggsocial 😊
Nice work @ryzalyusoff. I think it'd be helpful to see places near my current location, though that feature would certainly be more focused on immediate inspiration rather than travel planning.
Thanks @jamesfrancis for the suggestion, it's a good idea! I will try to find a way to fit this feature into the current design, and then I'll launch it :)
@jamesfrancis I second this! That's what I use Happy Cow for. Tracking which places near my location are serving meatfree food. If I were to use Veggsocial, this feature has to be implemented.
Keep up the good work @ryzalyusoff 😃
