I'll start with why we built UpsellPlus. Working for a BNPL player selling to large Shopify brands, I spent a lot of time figuring out different ways to increase sales volume for the brands we worked with. Focusing on increasing average order value (AOV) worked best. To get here, we studied the UX of the most persuasive website on the internet: Expedia.com and we became fascinated by the amount of impulse buying that happens in real-life store checkout lines. These two concepts came together and we realized that the online checkout is the place with the highest intent to purchase. Applying this to Shopify Plus brands with high traffic on their checkout pages showed this can earn an extra 3-10% in revenue.
