it's hard being different in tech but you're not alone

I ask "how are you today?" to people in marginalized groups in tech. I want them to know they're not alone and help teammates learn how to be allies. Let's all start active listening, be kind, and end imposter syndrome. Please free to fill out the form!

Hi Product Hunt community!
This is uncomfortable to write but I think it's important and I want others that feel left out in tech to know they're not alone 🤗
I'm a woman, multiracial, and neurodiverse. I didn't go to school for computer science. I'm not good at brain teasers and live coding. I have changed careers several times and have a different perspective on things.
It's difficult for me to be in tech. Coworkers dismiss my ideas and speak over me in meetings. I worry about seeming too sensitive or aggressive. I make others uncomfortable when I get emotional. I've worked at 8 different tech startups and never made it more than 2 years at any of them. I used to suffer from imposter syndrome and constantly felt like I was failing.
It took me years to gain confidence and learn these things:
My opinion is valuable.
I'm not toxic for speaking up.
I'm not crazy.
I'm not bad at my job.
Please go ask someone at work how they're doing. Schedule coffee chat meetings and learn more about them. Help people with their careers. Be an ally to those on your team that don't feel like they fit in. Have uncomfortable conversations about how others are feeling. Help teammates resolve conflict.
Together, we can end imposter syndrome and help women/BIPOC and other traditionally marginalized groups get into tech and STAY in tech. DEI isn't just about hiring diverse perspectives--you also have to actively listen, evolve processes, and pay attention once they're on the team.
If you're someone who feels left out in tech, please fill out the form! Feel free to come back and fill it out again on a day you're feeling bad or read what others are going through on the blog. We're in this together.
Thanks for reading!
Molly
p.s. I had this idea on Wednesday around 7pm and it was live by 3am. The Tally form triggers a Zapier web hook which autoposts to Webflow. I am excited about the future of work and how easy it is to start businesses and share ideas now.
I'm interested in helping tech startups evolve their processes. It would be hugely helpful to me if you could fill out this short form and sign up for updates from me. https://tally.so/r/nPd1kB
