Unmute uses Text-To-Speech to let your iPhone speak for you during phone calls. You can pre-program sentences, or type what you want your phone to say during a call. This helps people who are mute (can’t / don’t talk) or if you have other speech impediments.
WOW @jordibruin definitely project with best value proposition of the day! we have sales team and on every call first 3-5 questions are always the same. Can Unmute use sentences recorded with my own voice? Also can I use it for Zoom?
@oleksiy_malytskyy thanks! Unfortunately the phone call APIs are very limited so they only allow for text-to-speech to be inserted. Your usecase would be super useful for small companies to have, but I wonder how it could be abused to trick people into thinking they’re speaking to someone else..
Hi everyone! 👋
During a hackathon in April I came across a new iOS API which allowed me to inject text-to-speech directly into an active phone call. I wanted to make something for the mute and speech impeded community so I came up with Unmute! It lets your iPhone talk for you during phone calls.
The person on the other side of the call will hear your typed sentences spoken out loud. Super useful if you have to call a doctor, a restaurant for making a reservation, or even if you're abroad and can't speak the language well yet.
Besides the accessibility benefits, I've also had a lot of fun pranking telemarketers with this. 😇
I've made a bunch of iterations after getting feedback from users, and the app has been featured by Apple so it seems to be helpful already!
Let me know what you think!
