Hi all, proud to submit our latest bot to Product Hunt!
Monkey's AI-driven chatbot is an extremely rewarding project. We had the pleasure of working with some of the world's largest brands and release something fun, engaging, and entertaining for a great charity event - Comic Relief's Red Nose Day.
I am happy to answer any questions about the chatbot, the AI, or the company that built it - ubisend.
@chrismessina Hey Chris.
Unilever and their teams are handling distribution. As you can imagine, working with such a global brand means we are quite restricted in how we're able to promote the bot.
To answer your question, they are mainly doing print advertising (magazines and banners/takeovers) in shops and train stations around London. They are also approaching consumer press.
The goal is around retention and building awareness for Comic Relief and Red Nose Day. The Monkey chatbot is aiming to raise 1 million laughs, and these laughs come from the jokes he sends every day to each user.
Did you try it yourself? Would love to hear your thoughts.
@alexdebecker he ended up being more informational than funny when I asked him about green tea... lol.
"Well friend, green tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis. The reason it tastes, smells and looks so unique comes down to the way the leaves are treated. As soon as they’ve been harvested, the leaves are steamed to stop them oxidising and turning brown. Crikey, sounds like thirsty work!"
Cool bot. Must have been a fun project. I wonder how this adds value to their line of business though? Let's say @DropinIn (https://twitter.com/DropinIn) recommends events, shouldn't their bot recommend dishwasher liquid or recipe's ?
@thistenqyulife Thank you for the kind words.
The value was around exposure and something fun for Red Nose Day. Every year they do something new that involves Monkey in some way (last year Monkey floated down London's river Thames, IIRC).
This year they thought turning Monkey into an interactive chatbot would be cool, so ubisend took on the project.
@alexdebecker sounds fantastic. Tomorrow I will be at an IBM connect event applying Watson-tech to chatbots. Is that some technology you are working with as well?
