Undead Domains is a place to find new owners for all the domains you bought in a rush and then never really used. 1. Verify and add your domains 2. Share your public profile page (think link-in-bio) 3. Discover new domains via search and leaderboard
This is a great idea! One feedback is to integrate so that people can SSO into their registrar, not sure what it would take to do that but I was setting up something through Google and it automatically detected my cloudflare and was able to let me sso to change it instantly.
Also some kind of list or search page that showed some domains (even if you didnt search yet) would be cool and maybe encourage people to use it.
Also, it would be nice to be able to save the domain even if it's not able to verify (since I just added the TXT record)
Yeah I was looking into that feature as well but didn't find anything on how to actually do that. I think it might be a google x cloudflare custom integration, maybe. I kinda moved it back but it's on my list of stuff to look into for sure.
Additional discovery options are coming soon as we have more people joining us + more domains.
Saving domains without verification is also something I'm taking a look at, just need to add polling the verification status or a manual 'check status' button thing
Great feedback, thanks Mike!
Hi, I'm Philipp š cofounder over at adlerlagune.com
You know those first few moments of absolute bliss when you come up with a new project idea. One of the first things you always want to do is secure an awesome domain name. You find one eventually and hit buy.
You start hacking on the project, but eventually, you stop working on it.
But what about that domain name? It just sits around, parked, in your cloudflare/godaddy/porkbun/... registrar as a reminder of your failure.
I wanna change that with https://undeaddomains.com. I want builders to be proud of their failures, and be able to find new owners for their unused domains.
Let me show you how we're changing the status quo:
š Domain parking sites and forms convert notoriously bad
ā Our link in bio profiles don't, it's a public page that you're able to customize and add your socials, people are going to contact you via your preferred contact method
š Registrars take a cut on each sale
ā we don't, and won't. We plan to monetize via paid plans that are going to offer additional premium features like AI/semantic search and improved analytics (early adopters will get these features for free)
š Discovering new domains sucks
ā in addition to a streamlined full text search we will soon offer semantic search (feature is ready, and will be unlocked after more people signed up) leaderboards on a dataset of domains submitted by builders, for builders
If you sign up early:
1ļøā£ reserve your unique username/handle
2ļøā£ get early adopter benefits
3ļøā£ get paid plan features for free (you get to keep them)
Producthunt feedback is invaluable and we ship rapidly. So, please tell me what you like and more importantly don't like about it.
If you find a bug or weird behavior, please reach out to receive an exclusive bug hunter badge as a customization option.
(here's my public profile if you wanna check what domain-skeletons I'm hiding in my closet https://undeaddomains.com/@phil)
@philipp_parzer This is a brilliant way to turn unused domains into opportunities! Undead Domains' customizable link-in-bio profiles and upcoming AI features are game-changers. It's great to see a solution that turns setbacks into new beginnings for entrepreneurs.
What's been the most surprising feedback from early adopters, and how has it influenced your development plans?
@cata Thanks so much Nick!
That's a good question, most surprising would probably be that many people so far have asked me to integrate transactions right into the app, which was not really something I was planning for but now that so many people asked I'm actively thinking about integrating it (as an option ofc, I don't really wanna force anyone to use in-app transactions to sell/buy domains)
also, related to this, we'll never take a cut from sales
@phil@philipp_parzer Hey Philipp! Just some feedback. Adding domains is a bit painful now. I have to verify ownership with a txt record, which can take up to 48h to propagate. Which would be fine, if I'd be able to just submit my application, and then your system checks it again after 48h. But right now, what's happening is I just get the error message "TXT record not found", and the only thing I can do is to cancel and then I have to type in the domain and description again. I realize I can just set the txt record for all the domains I want to add now and then 2 days later come back and add them, buuut... slim chance I'm gonna think of it and do it.
@omwow thanks for the feedback!
yeah, I'm aware of this I might add a polling feature where you add the domain, it gets saved as "unverified" and then we poll each second or something until it's verified
what domain provider were you using and how long did it take?
@phil@philipp_parzer@omwow yeah I love the idea but the TXT thing seems complicated and Iām afraid to get started and mess things up. Please provide step by step instructions
@nora_q no, no blockchain just domains and TXT records for verification
why do you think it would include blockchain tech? or was it more of an idea to include blockchain features?
@gabe good thing is, due to it being easily shareable we don't really rely on a huge community right from the start, as you can just do your own thing and share the link / spread the word on social media and get leads that way -> people don't need to sign up to undead if they wanna buy your domains š
