Turn your weather into a Spotify or Apple Music playlist

Tycho and I developed this app which turns your weather into a playlist. It uses the Dark Sky api to get your local weather conditions and then relates those conditions to audio features. For example, a gusty day may produce tracks with a higher tempo. ⛈

Tycho and I would love feedback on this simple utility we put together and hope that it melds with your weather nicely. If you're curious about how it was built, please check out the case study here: https://bit.ly/2ZgWvwQ Thank you!

@amrith cheers Amrith, get anything good?

Great work as always @leemartin :) Just created my playlist, listening now. Cool idea and I totally agree with @rrhoover that artists should get more creative (and benefit the API's possibilities) these days. Only con I can think of is that one third of the playlist (8 out of 25 songs) filled with Tycho feels a bit too much. I assume this has been decided by the client, but in case you want new (possible) fans to discover the artist, it's probably not beneficial to overload them with new music. In order to make them listen to the playlist again (or create a new one via the tool) it's probably best to blend the tracks you want to promote a bit more with what the user knows already. What's your thought on this? :) P.s. Tycho is new for me. Though I see he's quite big already. Not 100% my fit, but sounds good!

@joepvanleijsen Yo Joep. First of all, I've been doing this for 16 years and can say a lot of artists have created a lot of creative campaigns. 😅 This is nothing new but perhaps a rad intro into the world of interactive music dev for some. It's just hard to get anyones attention (with anything online) and a lot of my ideas don't get nearly the impact this one has. I can understand your reluctance on receiving too many Tycho tracks but naturally thats tied into a greater goal for our campaign: exposing more folks to Scott's music. It's also not something we're very strict about, we just casually knew that we wanted to weight Tycho tracks slightly more than the rest of the pool. If I looked at this app like any product, you're the first user to mention this, so I would make a note and wait for others to bring me the same opinion. Only then would I really start to consider that an adjustment should be made. As of now, thousands and thousands of playlists have been saved with only positive vibes about the selection. My personal feeling is that Tycho is the client, so the client gets love. If "weather" would have hired me, naturally we wouldn't weight one artist more than another. 😅

@leemartin Sure, I totally understand, client is paying for the promo and so he should get it. Don't mind my opinion :) Oh and I'm following you for years now, so I'm fully aware of the work you do for artists. I think @rrhoover and me are just seeing untapped potential. Not to say there aren't any creative campaigns run by artists. Anyway, out of scope discussion :D Great work, looking forward to see the next project!

@joepvanleijsen Word word word. We should jump on a hangout soon. Would love to hear about Roadie and everything else you're up to. 🙌🏻
