Hey everyone 👋 I originally had this idea after I started following a lot of artists, designers and creators on twitter. My feed is now full of artwork making it harder for artists to stand out from the crowd. I thought about building a website where artists could pay a small amount to feature their artwork, and the website would only show a few pieces of art at a time - as new art was added, older art would be removed.
I don’t really have an audience of artists so I thought launching that would be difficult/unsuccessful, so I changed the idea from artwork to websites, to see if the model itself works.
The premise of 21websites.xyz is pretty simple; pay £2 and your website will be featured. A maximum of 21 websites will be displayed at any one time. As new ones are added, older ones are pushed down the page until they fall off.
It was made using Carrd, Stripe, Google Sheets & Zapier
If you’ve got feedback or suggestions, let me know
@k3sava Hey Kesava 👋 For now just by posting on social media. Each time a new website is added, I'll tweet about it and mention the person that submitted it, hopefully encouraging them to share too. Ideally in the future there will be enough submissions coming in regularly that it becomes a place that people want to visit to see what's new. Depending on how things go, I might make a Chrome extension that will show the websites each time you open a new tab which could help drive more traffic. I'm open to ideas though!
@marsh931 I like the Chrome extension idea, and I can help with retweets from my Twitter handle. Let us think of ways to make this more attractive to advertisers. 😎
