tubeSeek allows users to recall YouTube videos that are in a foreign language and have foreign language titles/tags. You no longer have to depend on the thumbnails to remember useful videos in your playlists. Just tag with your own words using tubeSeek.
Hi All,
Q. Why I created tubeSeek?
A.
Issue : During lockdown I spent a lot of time on YouTube. I found or was suggested or stumbled upon a lot of useful videos that I kept adding to playlists. Many of these videos were in foreign languages with foreign language titles. Issue was that I could not search for these videos within my playlists as I did not know the language and had to rely on the thumbnails to recall the video.
Solution: I created a small side project wherein I started tagging these videos with my own words (in my native language), I found it really useful as I was able to recall these foreign language videos very easily. Not just foreign language videos I even started to tag English ones with my own words as I could recall them much faster and easily.
I kept working on this side project and kept on adding features :
1. Chrome extension : As I did not like copying video urls and pasting them to my app, I created a chrome extension to directly tag the video while I am on the YouTube video.
2. Tag at a particular time : Sometimes the content I am interested in starts somewhere in the middle or end of the video, so I can tag the video to start at a particular time.
3. Import my existing playlists: The huge playlists that I created with foreign language videos ,I can authorise YouTube to share it with tubeSeek and start tagging videos.
4. Public and Private videos: By default videos are tagged publicly but there is also an option to create private tags which only the logged in user can see.
5. Directly search YouTube from tubeSeek
6. Fast search as you type powered by Algolia search
I assume there will be more like me who have faced similar issue with recalling videos. I hope tubeSeek can be a helpful tool for some.
