Tripsido is an app designed to connect like-minded people traveling to the same destination(s) over the same dates. Users can create their own trips for others to see and join, or search for other people’s existing trips and request to join those themselves.
Hey everyone!
My name is Connor and I’m one of the co-founders here at Tripsido (or, “Trips-I-do”). Our team has developed a new app designed to connect like-minded people traveling to the same destination(s) over the same dates. Currently, when people are looking for travel partners, the options they have to do so are very limited. As travel-lovers ourselves, we experienced this difficulty first-hand, and wanted to do something about it.
Right now, most people use dedicated forums such as: “r/TravelPartners” (Reddit, ~70K members), or “Looking for a Travel Buddy!” (Facebook, ~450K members). As you can imagine, these aren’t ideal solutions. Scrolling through endless posts, with no way to filter by dates / locations / size of groups etc.; it can soon leave you feeling a little stranded in your search. Our app allows users to easily view, search and filter for existing trips which they can then request to join. Alternatively, they can create their own trips for others to see and request to join those themselves. We wanted to implement a simple, yet effective solution to the issue; Tripsido’s mobile nature allows for users to search for trips whilst on-the-go. As we all know, life can pull us in many different ways (this is especially true for people traveling) – so, we felt it was necessary to come up with a solution which makes it easy for users to instantly create / view trips as they please.
We launched our MVP on the Google Play Store in September and have just launched on the Apple App Store in late November. We’re focusing on marketing, as the nature of the app means we face a “chicken and the egg” style problem – to gain traction, we need users to post trips in the first place. We’d absolutely love for anyone to download our app, try it out, and give us any feedback. We’ve had some great responses from initial users which we have worked on, including fixing minor bugs and trying to make the UI a little easier to understand. We’re a small team of three working very hard, so we’d love for any feedback to be specific – of course, broad changes such as overall UI improvements will be made as we gain the resources required to help us make them. With limited resources, we’re focusing on fixing any critical bugs to begin with, and incorporating any necessary new features, too.
Right now, the app works in such a way that users can only message each other once they a part of the same trip. We’re working on a group “Trip Chat” feature, to make the overall planning of trips much easier; for every user which has their Trip Request accepted, they’ll be added to the existing group chat (this will be rolled out in an update soon). We’re also working on figuring out the best methods to implement user verification, and as traction grows, perhaps even user trip member ratings / reviews to help future Trip Creators make informed decisions about who to accept on their trips.
We’ve had really promising feedback from early users who were contacted via the various travel buddy forums mentioned above – it seems to be a product that people actually want. We’re incredibly excited about the future and we appreciate the opportunity to launch Tripsido on Product Hunt and have some great minds check it out. Please feel free to reach out with any questions at all! :)
