Toast makes online dating exciting by replacing texting with intriguing video calls. Enjoy spontaneous connections in the online room, or match first and pick a date for your call. When sparks fly, we’ll keep you connected. Beta launching soon!
That's an interesting concept. I would understand people feeling a bit awkward about calling a stranger right away but that's indeed a way of breaking the ice and allows to see who's really serious or not. The online room can also be interesting as it's supposed to reproduce this atmosphere of entering in a bar where you could start a real conversation with anyone. I wonder what type of feedback you already received from beta testers? Also, what is planned for moderation? Because this could also make the same mistakes apps like Omegle did, with weirdos popping here "for fun" and making Toast users uncomfortable
@rubenwolff Hi Ruben, thanks so much for checking us out! 😀
We’ve had some really cool feedback from testers so far — many are excited, nervous, and sometimes a bit shocked at first. But the overwhelming response we receive is that people are super curious, and eager to try something different.
I’m glad you asked about moderation and user safety. Toast is for everyone — however you identify, whatever you’re looking for, we designed Toast in a way that everyone feels safe to be their authentic selves. We check in with Toasties after their call. If a user reports anything other than a satisfactory experience, we investigate. We do not tolerate harassment or abuse of any kind, and users who engage in this type of behavior will be removed.
Hi, Product Hunt!
We’re Toast. 🍞 We’re a dating app that eliminates endless chatting and ambiguity to deliver a more exciting way to date online.
So, how do we do it? Toast flips the online dating timeline on its head by moving the chat feature to where it matters most: after you hit things off and know that you want to remain in touch.
Toasties get to know each other through intriguing introductory video calls. The first minute is audio only. After five minutes, if both parties are having a good time they can opt to extend the call. We check in at the appropriate moment so you can enjoy the experience.
Toast also has an online room, which is a bit like walking into a bar. You can pop in at any time to see who’s available to invite for a call.
For some people the idea of hopping on a video call instead of texting can feel a bit scary...but we believe that’s a good thing. Dating should make you feel butterflies, afterall. ☺️
You may be curious as to why we named our app Toast. Why not?! Toast is warm, fun, and playful. It doesn’t take itself too seriously. And toast, like people, comes in many different varieties. When you find your match, together you make the perfect sandwich.
Thanks for taking the time to check us out. We value any and all feedback, and we’re happy to answer any questions you have!
