Toad is the simplest URL shortener with a built-in API, detailed analytics, and custom domain support. Toad is built to be fun yet powerful. What's stopping you? Make the leap!
Hey everyone. I'm excited to launch Toad: a simple URL shortener with all the features needed to be your go-to shortener solution. I built it because I wanted a new way to generate short URLs, and I was annoyed with the existing solutions. I find other solutions limiting, and they overcomplicate their APIs.
Features:
- Easy to use dashboard where you can create, update and remove links
- Simple full-featured API
- Custom domain support - so you can use your domain and branding
- Performant - ~100ms redirect (that should come down over time as I add a few optimizations)
- Detailed analytics with visit counts, browsers, etc.
- Scalable out of the box using a fully serverless stack
- Team management support so you can invite your teammates
Here is the stack I used:
- Next.js (https://nextjs.org/) with Tailwind (https://tailwindcss.com/)
- Supabase (https://supabase.io/) - database
- Vercel (https://vercel.com/) - hosting
- Checkly (https://www.checklyhq.com/) - monitoring
- Bugsnag (https://www.bugsnag.com/) - bug tracking
- Heap (https://heap.io/) - analytics
- Stripe (https://stripe.com/) - payments
(blog post to come on this stack)
Hey @mohnacky, thanks! Toad is meant to simplify a lot of the bit.ly concepts, especially the API. In the near future, I plan to open source it so anyone can use it themselves.
@zlwaterfield Oh, an open source version to host with Vercel + Supabase will be welcomed by many, I'm sure! 👏 …As the main reason many of us don't use these shorteners is: "we don't know how long it'll last!" 😀
Hi, would you be interested in a colab where we use your product to shorten links generated by https://hash.mwt.me This service generates long URLs which contain base64 encoded markdown and LaTeX.
