We all know that dogs are man’s best friend, so why not let our furry pals help expand our social circle.
Tindog is the first social app for dog lovers who want to connect with other owners nearby. It’s a fun way to meet new people around us that share a similar passion for canines — whether it’s to build new friendships or even make a love connection.
We’ve launched in the US this week so I’m looking for feedback on the value position and user experience. I’ll be on the lookout for your thoughts via the replies below.
Many thanks!
@bebemuller I've had the idea for this app over a year ago, awesome to see you build it! I think there's definitely something in connecting dog owners. I would totally focus on dating, walking your dog is something you both have to do so why not do it together? Also, the dogs have to match ;) I'm a firm believer this can work + there's so much content marketing you can do around this app :)
@bebemuller congrats on the launch julien! what inspired you to build out this idea? how do you manage building a side app with the core business of holidog?
@eriktorenberg@bebemuller Thanks Erik! As an owner of 3 dogs and other pets (among others a parrot) myself, I've always dreamt about such an app to connect and engage with pet lovers around you! And since no such app has existed before, it was time to build it ourselves using our in-depth knowledge about the pet market. Ultimately, Tindog is part of Holidog's overarching user acquisition strategy.
Haha, oh dear. Guaranteed that someone in my social circle will show this to me in the next couple of weeks and I'll be all "yeah, I saw it on ProductHunt the other week"
Great idea. I'm recently single and have had my dog for about 6 months. Still working on socialisation, so for me it'd be really handy to find another dog owner nearby that I can go for walks with to help my 90lb German Shepherd get used to being around other dogs (without trying to eat them).
If that owner is also a cute girl with shared interests, all the better.
Of course, at this stage I don't imagine too many users from Perth, Western Australia... but like I say, in about 2 weeks I'm sure there will be
@rossdcurrie thanks ross for your message. Actually, on our beta version, we've got a lot of users from australia and Perth particularly so i think your german shepard will find some friends on the app :)
@bebemuller there is! I'm blown away, to be honest. In fact, I have a match already! You'll get bonus points if it's a spam user. You know you've made it when your platform has spam users :D
One bit of feedback is that the owner pics are pretty small - I've uploaded a full-size photo, so it'd make sense if I could see that somehow. All I can see is the tiny thumbnail.
@rossdcurrie ahah thanks. You will not get spam user as we are currently validation every single user and picture. For the tiny picture, it's on purpose to keep attention focus on dogs but we have some ideas to solve your problem :)
@bebemuller Yeah, generally once a match is formed you can't really see any information about the person. Knowing how far away a dog is located may come in handy :)
This is hilarious. It's like bringing the evening park dog crew digital. Also can I just hang out with someone's dog? I can't have one right now. I pretty much swipe right on every person with a Corgi on Tinder.
@stttories I saw somebody who had photos of someone else's dog and it just said "this dog lives in another city, but add me because I love hanging out with dogs!"
