Like most modern day professionals I struggled with bad time management and I could never seem to get ahead. Constantly playing catchup to my peers I'd frantically plan my calendar on Sunday night for the following week and end up moving around appointments, cancelling events each day or when I got frustrated with overload. Focus in both home and work was all over the place, stress and anxiety was piling up and no matter how many to-do lists or the latest planner app I had nothing would seem to stop it. I felt like I needed an extra day each day to do what seemed like normal everyday things.
Not being happy with my situation and being what I'd call a programmer I leaned on my talents as a solver to try and fix my problem. I'd love to say that the idea of Time Woke hit me like a bolt of lightning but it in reality took a long month of research to figure out that it was my perception of time that was distorted. I tried many ways after researching to combat my time deficit such as counting each second for 5 mins to up to an hour in an attempt to rewire my brain. I also tried guessing when 10/20/30 seconds was up using a stopwatch - each time I was wrong.
After many iterations over months of development what started out as my problem with time and how I fixed it has now turned into the first version of Time Woke.
I didn't intend to build an app but with the strength Time Woke has given me it had to be released as it could help others like myself. I also didn't intend to solve my stress, anxiety and imposter syndrome in one swoop - it was simply a byproduct of great task estimation and knowing what I could achieve in 10 seconds, 5 minutes, 1 hour, half a day, etc
