Hullo, I've created a new game! Introducing TileJack, a word game inspired by Scrabble and blackjack. Draw and lock tiles, and make a word with as many tiles as possible. Using all tiles earns a triple score.
Hello everyone!
So uh, this is my second time ever making a game (I first worked on Mydle, https://mydle.app/), a spin on Wordle.
TileJack was inspired by watching blackjack players weigh the risks vs rewards of drawing more cards. I wanted to bring that sense of risk into a word game. In TileJack, you can draw up to 11 tiles to create an amazingly long word, but at the same time, you risk adding more useless letters to your rack.
If you manage to make a word with all but one of your letters, you get double points. If you manage to make a word with ALL your letters, you get TRIPLE points.
Gameplay is free and requires no login.
On the roadmap for the future:
- tweaking the styling for better sizing. Some of the tiles and text are a bit small right now. And the alignment of elements on the screen could be better.
- Making it clearer that only 4-11 letter words are playable (for now!)
- polishing the leaderboard UI, and adding Total Score as a form of ranking)
- adding leaderboards by country, for bragging rights ;)
- adding support for usernames, for even more bragging rights ;)
TileJack just got it's first post-release update! 🎉
- sizes of text, tiles, buttons, etc have been increased so that it's easier to read and use
- the game now makes it clearer that you need at least 4 tiles to build a word
- when building your word, the action buttons at the bottom are now clearer in their purposes (one is to clear your selection, another is to start a new game entirely)
- the leaderboard has been updated with a shiny new UI, along with 2 new ranking options: Total Score and Played Rounds. So even if you're not getting the best words, you still have a chance to get a podium finish 😉
Coming soon:
- username support, so you can add your name to the game's hall of fame ;)
